First Hunt of the Season

Due to my busy work and school schedule I have not had as much hunting time as I would like but I got to go out last weekend which was super exciting. My boyfriend and I went out Saturday morning, it was a great day to go hunting because of all the rain we had. Deer don't move around much in the rain and Saturday morning was the first day in a while that it wasn't raining.

To get to our tree stand we walked about a mile through ankle high water and mud , we were sliding all over the place but at least we weren't walking on leaves or sticks making noise to scare the deer. Once we got to the stand it was about 6:00am and the sun was still down, we couldn't shoot until sunrise which was at 7:17 on Saturday.

Sitting in the woods all day was so relaxing, I missed it so much. The chilly wind against your face, listening to the small animals like squirrels moving through the leaves and watching the sun rise is the best way to start my morning.  Sadly, we didn't see any deer during our hunt, but we did watch a squirrel fall out of it's tree and a raccoon climbed the tree we were in.

Hopefully the wind will be in our favor this weekend so we can see some deer.
