Life as CNA

I'm going to us this as a little rant for this week. I am currently employed as a CNA at a nursing home near my house along with two of my sisters. When I got hired I got hired in at $13.26 per hour which is not a bad rate for some jobs.

I have been there for almost a year and I'm still making the same wage while the new hired CNA's are getting hired at $15 dollars an hour, now I'm not working as a CNA just for the money I really do care about my residents and their well being but, it makes no sense to me why myself and some other CNA's who have been there 10 years longer than me are making less than the CNA's who are brand new.

A month ago at our monthly inservice, our director got after us for asking for more money or a raise, and told us if we wanted to make more money we should go down the street to McDonald's where the starting pay is also $15 dollars. How is it that working in healthcare as a CNA , where I am trusted with about 15 people to myself to keep the clean, healthy and happy, etc. I make less than someone who flips hamburgers for a living. It makes no sense to me .

Well that's my rant for the day, thanks for reading :)
