My first week
When asked about my first week as a college freshman I feel like I can describe it in one word, OVERWHLEMING. I knew that college was going to be nothing like high school, I knew that college would be more of an unstructured experience. But, I didn't know it would be so overwhelming in just the first week.
I started my week off with one class on Monday, my anatomy and physiology lecture, and let me tell you... the professor sure knows how to speak fast. I've always been told that I speak fast but listening to her talk, I think I'm on the speed scale with a sloth. Luckily, everything we cover is in a slide show presentation I can go back and look at... if I can manage to navigate Brightspace and find it .
On Tuesday I started my day in English, which I can't lie, I was not excited for. English has never been one of my strong subjects, but Dr. Kyburz brightened my mood a bit with how excited and into teaching she seemed. After English I attended my Chemistry lecture, that went just as well as my anatomy lecture.
After just a few days of school I already feel like I am so behind and can't catch up. I still have a lot to learn about how my classes run and how to use Brightspace and Connect. I have so much reading and note taking to do before my next chemistry and anatomy labs. So, I am overwhelmed.
First of all, I feel the same way... you're far from alone in this. But, I really liked how you had so much personality in your writing. It made it really enjoyable and relatable.
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly right college is not like high school! Settling into college is very difficult but you will get there. Besides you are good, taking anatomy and chemistry. I could never I am operating on two brain cells. LOL! I hope you eventually settle in well!
ReplyDeleteAlexa I feel you girl. Our anatomy and physiology professor does indeed go fast. I am going to start recording the lectures that way I can go back and listen in case I missed anything. Maybe that would help you with the pacing? I wish you the best of luck in the rest of your classes! You can do this!

ReplyDeleteI have a lot of the same classes as you and I 100% understand your feelings. By the end of my first week, I had so many homework assignments that I had no clue where to start. Our anatomy and physiology teacher speaks so fast that most of the time I stop taking notes halfway through class. You are not alone and I hope that you find a way to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThe overwhelming fades quickly as you learn and adapt to college. I had alot of those courses last semester and felt the exact same way! Soon enough you will overcome the hard parts and have time to enjoy the dumb things.
